TWO men are in hospital with severe burns and a third is being quizzed by police after a suspected burglary at an electrical substation.

Ambulance crews were called to Cattawade Street, Brantham, close to the village's industrial estate on Monday evening.

A blaze had broken out at the substation nearby in Factory Lane.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said: “We were called by the ambulance service to Cattawade Street, Brantham, where they were treating two men with severe burns, and we were notified by the fire service of a fire at an electrical substation in Factory Lane, Brantham.

“Two males in their twenties were taken to Colchester Hospital before being transferred to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.

“A 26-year-old man from Ipswich has been arrested on suspicion of burglary.”

Kevin Pavietti, production manager of Dispersion Technology, on the site, said he arrived at work to find there was no power supply to his business and several others.

“We have lost a day's production here. I have 12 people that can't do anything today,” he said.
