Two men accused of kidnapping and attempting to rape a woman in Ipswich last month have been remanded in custody by a judge.
George-Hari Constantinescu and Danut Gheorghe, both 29, who live in a caravan at Sutton Hoo, near Woodbridge, appeared before magistrates in Ipswich on Monday last week and were granted conditional bail.
The prosecution immediately announced its intention to appeal and the matter was initially due to be considered by Judge Rupert Overbury at Ipswich Crown Court a week ago.
However, the judge adjourned the hearing until Friday and the men were remanded in custody after the appeal hearing was further adjourned until today when Judge Overbury granted the appeal after hearing submissions by lawyers in the case.
He remanded the men in custody until the next hearing on April 4.
The woman was allegedly assaulted on February 25 while crossing Grimwade Street and forced into a nearby car park.
