The 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy were approached by a couple who demanded cash at the recreation ground in Murray Road.
The victims refused and tried to leave but the male attacker took money out of the teenage boy's pockets and his female accomplice slapped and punched the female victim.
Following the attack at 3.30pm on Saturday the offenders then made off.
The man was described as white, aged 17-18 years old, 6ft 4ins to 6ft 5ins, and of thin build with short dark hair. He was not wearing a top but had a white tank top hanging from his grey tracksuit bottoms.
The woman was of mixed race, aged between 16-17 years old, 5ft 4ins, of medium build, with black hair pulled tightly into a ponytail and her upper lip pierced. She wore blue jeans and a bright purple hooded top.
