WE must stand firm together to keep vital heart services in Suffolk.

That was the strong message today as two of the county's top political leaders join together to stand up for the county's healthcare.

Jeremy Pembroke, leader of Suffolk County Council, and Liz Harsant, the leader of Ipswich Borough Council, have cast their differences aside to unite against plans which would see all emergency heart attack patients taken to Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex for treatment.

In a joint statement, Mr Pembroke and Mrs Harsant said: “We are now more concerned than ever that people in Ipswich and Suffolk are going to get a worse quality of care than people elsewhere in the country.”

And two readers have also told how they would have died without the swift and excellent care at Ipswich Hospital.
