An unlicensed Felixstowe drink-driver has been banned from the road for 12 months.

Andrew Vaughan, who gave his address as Undercliff Road West, admitted three offences when he appeared before Ipswich magistrates. The 57-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Omega without insurance, drink-driving and driving otherwise in accordance with a licence on October 21.

Prosecutor Simon Bravery said Vaughan was driving the Vauxhall at 4pm when it was seen by police pulling out into Beach Station Road in Felixstowe. A check on the Police National Computer showed the owner of the car only had a provisional driving licence which had expired.

A breath test showed Vaughan had 44 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs. In addition to his driving ban Vaughan was told he must pay £760 in fines, costs and court charges.
