A man has been arrested after a teenager told police she was sexually assaulted in an Ipswich park as she walked home late at night.

The arrest comes hours after police issued an e-fit image of the suspect following the attack in Gippeswyk Park at around 3.30am on April 25.

A man allegedly grabbed the 19-year-old woman’s backside before she pushed him away and walked off.

The man followed her again and grabbed her by the arms. A struggle ensued and the victim managed to free herself before running off.

Today, police have arrested a 32-year-old man from Ipswich on suspicion of sexual assault.

He has been taken to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre to be questioned.
