A second lorry has crashed into a bridge in Felixstowe just hours after the first spilled 200 litres of diesel and closed the road.

Suffolk Constabulary received reports of the first accident, which happened near the A154, at about 5.40pm.

A police spokesman said: “A lorry went into the bridge then spilled 200 litres of diesel causing the road to be totally blocked.”

The accident happened in Trinity Avenue, opposite Anzani House. No other vehicles were involved and no one was reported injured, police said. The road was closed for several hours. Shortly after reopening, another lorry crashed into the bridge, just before 11pm.
