AN IPSWICH restaurateur has said he may have to close his business after a series of vandalisms.

Aklasur Rahman, owner of Gulshan Indian Takeaway, in Stoke Street, has lost count of the times his premises has been attacked since his family moved in more than a decade ago.

This time Mr Rahman will be forced to cough up hundreds of pounds to replace three cracked windows.

The former Northgate High School pupil said the business he runs with his brothers is haemorrhaging cash faster than his family can earn it.

He said: “We're only a small business and all these things are adding up for us. It's happening all the time.”

Mr Rahman has, in the last year, had to replace the back door of the building and patch up the front door after thieves broke in and stole £80 from the till.

He believes the best way to stop the persistent attacks is to keep a constant eye on Stoke Street.

He said: “We can't afford to install CCTV but I know it would make people think twice about attacking the building again.”
