Waldringfield & District Bowls Club has been given hundreds of pounds in a funding boost from Ipswich Borough Council’s north east area committee.
A funding request was submitted by the club for improvements to the bowls green at Ransomes sports ground
The club took over the unused and overgrown bowls green at Ransomes in 2016, after it lost its own green in 2000 for the building of a new village hall and meant it had to rent various spaces across the county.
At this month’s north east area committee, a grant of £871.80 was approved.
The funding report said: “The club has made efforts to attract increased local membership by running taster and coaching sessions, and by offering the community chance to ‘have a go’ at the opening of Ransomes Pavilion in May 2017. As a result, the club has been pleased to see substantial interest in bowling from local residents.”
