SNOWBALL fights can be great fun in the wintry weather - but not for everyone.

Police are urging those playing in the snow to make sure they do so responsibly and not to use the snow to cause damage.

“While we do not wish to spoil anyone's fun during the wintry weather, we would advise anyone throwing snowballs to be mindful of other people and their property,” said a police spokeswoman.

“We want everyone to stay safe and to enjoy the snow, but snowballs can cause injury and damage and we would encourage anyone seeing persons behaving in an anti-social manner in the snow to report this to police.”

In the St Edmundsbury district there have been 25 reports of anti-social behaviour and two of criminal damage relating to snowball throwing.
