TWO men stole cash from the home of an 89-year-old man after pretending to be from the water board.

The pair tricked their way into the man's home, at Roman Way, Felixstowe, yesterday and detectives are today appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The elderly man was at home at 2.30pm when he found two men in his hallway. They said they were from the water board and doing checks because there were problems with the water supply in a nearby road.

One of the offenders went into the kitchen with the victim, while the other one looked elsewhere in the house.

When the pair left the man discovered cash had been stolen.

One of the men is described as white, in his 20s, 5ft 8ins, with brown hair and a moustache. He was wearing a brown zip-up jacket.

The other man is white, in his late teens/early 20s and of a similar height. He is thinner, with light brown hair and was wearing a light-coloured brown jacket.

Anyone who saw the men, or has information about the burglary, is asked to call Felixstowe CID on 01473 613500.
