A bottled water station has been set up for families whose supplies have been affected by a burst water main on the outskirts of Ipswich this morning.
Beech Road in Kesgrave has been closed by police at the junction with Main Road as a result of the burst water main and Anglian Water says it anticipates the issue will be resolved by later today.
The company has set up the bottled water station outside Krop Hair Salon on Beech Road to keep customers – who are without water or experiencing low pressure – hydrated. Today could be the hottest day of the year so far.
An Anglian Water spokesman said: “We are currently working to repair a burst water main on Beech Road in Kesgrave which has meant some customers in the area are currently without water or are experiencing low pressure.
“To allow our teams to complete this work safely a road closure is currently in place on Beech Road. We anticipate the burst will be repaired today and the road will be resurfaced by Monday – at which point the road will be reopened.
“Due to the hot weather, a bottled water station has been set up outside Krop Hair Salon on Beech Road to help customers keep hydrated.
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to thank customers for their patience whilst we work to restore supplies back to normal. For more updates, please visit our In Your Area page.”
