DULL summer weather has led to an unexpected boost in business for cinemas as families look for alternative holiday activities, it has emerged.
As a result of inclement weather in the past few weeks people have increasingly been turning to indoor activities such as the cinema during the school holidays.
Faith Dodd, duty manager at Cineworld at Cardinal Park, Ipswich, said: “Since the summer holidays we have noticed an increase in people coming to the cinema.
“We have a lot of kids and families coming in during the day when the evening is usually busier.
“On some days during the week we are getting as many people through the doors as we would expect at weekends.”
She said staff at the cinema are working extra hours during the day to keep up with demand.
