A woman arrested on suspicion of drug driving this afternoon following a crash in Civic Drive, Ipswich, has been released under investigation.
Suffolk police officers were called at 12.56pm to the roundabout of Civic Drive with Handford Road, to reports of a single-car crash.
A police spokeswoman said the car – a red Ford Fiesta – is believed to have left the road and crashed into a rail at the side of the footpath.
The spokeswoman said: “The driver has decamped and left the scene, and we have detained a woman on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.”
Officers confirmed the 25-year-old woman from Essex had left the scene but returned shortly after, and was arrested in Civic Drive.
A male passenger had also been in the car at the time, although neither were reported to be injured.
The woman was taken to Martlesham police investigation centre, but has since been released under investigation.
