AN 18-year-old Ipswich woman who had sex with a 13-year-old boy has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Christina Turner, of Waterford Road, Ipswich, admitted sexual activity with a child and in addition to being given a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years she was made the subject of a two-year supervision order.

She was also ordered to sign on the sex offenders' register for five years but on Tuesday Ipswich Crown Court Judge John Holt decided not to make an order preventing her from working with children. He also ordered Turner to pay £250 costs.

Kate Stephenson, prosecuting, said there had been some attraction between Turner and the 13-year-old boy and in July last year there had been sexual activity between them in his mother's bedroom.

The boy told some of his friends what had happened and one of his relatives told Turner that if she didn't go to the police they would.

Joanne Eley, for Turner, described her client as immature and said she was not much more than a child herself. She said Turner was ashamed of what had happened and had made full admissions to the police.
