A WOMAN whose boyfriend lied to her about being infertile has admitted stealing a home pregnancy kit from a pharmacy in Ipswich.

Tracey Mills, 41, of Fletcher Road, Ipswich, spent a night in jail to pay off the stolen pregnancy kit and 15 of costs racked up for her appearance at South East Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The court heard how Mills had taken the item from a pharmacy in Queensway on March 23, after her boyfriend admitted lying to her about being infertile.

Mills had, according to her solicitor Ian Duckworth, entered the pharmacy with the intention of paying for the pregnancy kit.

Mr Duckworth said: “She was panicking about whether or not she was pregnant but could not afford to pay for the test.

“She asked her boyfriend for the money to pay for it, but was told in no uncertain terms to go away.”

Mills was spotted on CCTV slipping the pregnancy kit into her jacket and leaving the pharmacy without paying.

She was arrested and interviewed by police and made a full admission to a charge of theft.

Mills, who had spent the night in jail before appearing before magistrates, was held in the cells until lunchtime on Monday to pay for her crime.
