A WOODBRIDGE man has been warned that all sentencing options will be open when he is sentenced next month for an offence of assault.

Paul Dickinson, 26, of St Edmunds Close, Woodbridge was found guilty of assaulting Stephen Fitzpatrick causing him actual bodily harm and sentence was adjourned for a pre sentence report.

He had denied the charge.

Dickinson was cleared of a further charge of affray which he had denied.

Adjourning sentence until the week commencing February 18 Recorder John Brooke-Smith told Dickinson that all-sentencing options would be open to the court.

During a trial at Ipswich Crown Court it was alleged that Dickinson had become upset during a disco at Woodbridge Town Football Club when a man hit Dickinson's three-year-old son on the head.

Dickinson had phoned the police and had been waiting outside for officers to arrive when he butted Mr Fitzpatrick – who had not been involved in the earlier incident – in the mouth causing a cut which needed stitches.

Dickinson claimed that Mr Fitzpatrick had lunged towards him and he had butted him in the mouth because he feared he was going to be attacked.
