The Labour Party wants 16-year-olds to have the right to vote - we asked people in Ipswich what they thought about the issue.

The Labour Party is distributing a video as part of its campaign to give 16-year-olds across the UK the right to vote.

The video argues that if at 16 you are allowed to get married, join the Army and work full-time then you should be able to vote.

However, while it is legal for someone in England to get married at 16, they would need parental permission, as they also would to join the Army at the same age.

People also haven’t been legally able to work full time at 16 in England since 2013.

In Scotland, 16 and 17-year-olds are allowed to vote in local elections and elections in the Scottish Parliament.

Labour wants this right to be universal.
