PEOPLE in Ipswich have been left wondering if they'll never walk alone after a little bit of Liverpool sprung up in the town.

In a strange coincidence, people driving around the Waterfront could be forgiven for thinking they were in the north west after two letters dropped off the Cranfield Mill to leave the famous Anfield moniker.

Anfield is the name of Liverpool FC's iconic Merseyside ground, a stadium that's echoes to the sound of the best known football tune on the planet - You'll Never Walk Alone.

Sung by supporters in the ground - the famous tune resounds over the city on match days.

People in Ipswich have said they are amused by the depleted sign.

Louisa Jones, who lives in nearby Cardinal Lofts, said the sign took her by surprise.

She said: “I'm not a big football fan but I know that Anfield is Liverpool's ground and it was quite odd to see it there.

“I certainly haven't heard any singing nearby though!”

Liverpool fan Craig Whiting, 30, of Shotley, said: “I never thought I would see the day that Anfield came to Ipswich.

“I'm going to have to rib my mates who are town fans that there is finally a decent team in the area!”
