SOCIAL networking site Facebook has given the friends of Christopher Thompson send their messages of support to his family in the wake of his tragic death. Mr Thompson, a former Chantry High School student, was found dead in Chantry Park last Thursday.

A man and a woman are today in custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of the 35-year-old, a self-employed groundworker.

Christopher Wilson, 33, and Deanna Stanton, 26, both of no fixed abode, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court yesterday charged with murder. They were remanded in custody until their next appearance at the court in Russell Road on February 8.

The news of Mr Thompson’s death has rocked the community and those who knew him have turned to Facebook to voice their anger, hurt and confusion.

Louise Calver said: “I only met Chris a few times but know his mum and sisters. Cannot even begin to imagine what they are going through. Rest in peace Chris xxx”

While Christina Jayne Ondik said: “So sad, I knew him but not personally. We went to the same school but i’m a little older than him. RIP Chris x”

Phil Gardiner simply added: “R.I.P.”

Another former school friend, Terry Frost, said: “I didn’t realise it was him, I new him from school and he used to live around the corner from me, thought I recognised the name. RIP Chris.”

Sending a message directly to Mtr Thompson’s family, Kevin Crisp said: “You are a top man who will be sadly missed. My thoughts and prayers are wid (sic) you and your family.”

Nicky Douglas Nicholls added: “Rip Chris was a good friend for many years, sad loss thinkin (sic) of the family.”

Cousin Lisha Shanice shared her thoughts at this sad time and said: “R.I.P big cuzzy! With all the angels and uncle Dwayne now, let them protect you. I love you <3.”

Expressing regret that they had not cleared the air, Liz Norman said: “Rip Chris going to miss u (sic) so much wish we had sorted things out love u (sic) so much babe xxxx”

Nearly 50 comments have already been left on the Ipswich Star Facebook page, most of them from people who had met Mr Thompson over the years.

Carl Harrison said: “Omg lost for words if I’m honest, bad always happens to the decent people, rest in peace and send my condolences to all the family xx”
