ESSEX all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate has signed a one-year contract extension, taking him up to the end of the 2011 season.

The 28-year-old played an integral part in Essex's successes during a 2008 season that saw them win the Friends Provident Trophy and the NatWest Pro40 Division Two title.

Ten Doeschate contributed in all forms of the game with the bat, producing a number of crucial innings along the way - none more so than in the Friends Provident Trophy Final against Kent Spitfires at Lord's in August when he struck 30 not out in an unbeaten stand of 57 for the sixth-wicket with Grant Flower to win the match.

His performances with the ball were the most productive of his county career to date, taking 36 wickets at 24.80 in the LV County Championship and 13 at 18.69 in the Twenty20 Cup. In addition the South African-born cricketer also claimed an Essex career-best of six for 57 in the tourist match against New Zealand at The Ford County Ground in May.

The Netherlands international capped a fine year when he was named as the Associate Player of the Year at the ICC Awards in Dubai in September.
