IPSWICH Town today received a pre-East Anglian derby boost with news that 2007/8 season tickets sales are now on target.
The Town players will go into the Coca-Cola Championship cauldron against Norwich City on Sunday boosted by the knowledge that they will be playing in front of 20,000-plus crowds at Portman Road again next season.
Blues chief executive Derek Bowden said today: “Postbags have still to be emptied and tickets have to be processed and it will not be until Tuesday that we have the final figures.
“The final week traditionally brings the most applications and we look to be set to reach our target.
“I am very happy with the response of our fans.
“The increase in prices proved a little contentious, but exciting wins in our last three home games have shown what manager Jim Magilton and his team are capable of.
“And the loyalty award scheme has been well received.”
The Early Bird deadline for reduced prices ends tomorrow, but - as usual - the club will accept applications over the weekend.
Magilton's player budget should now be at least as high as this season's and there should be no need to make any compulsory sales.
