WOODBRIDGE 1st & 2nd XVs both have big games at the weekend.

The 1st XV take on much improved Wymondham in an Eastern Counties League match.

The Warriors have already beaten their opponents home and away this season, in the away league fixture then following that up at Hatchley Barn by dumping them out of the EDF Junior Vase with a late John Yorke try.

Both games were decided by late tries and no doubt another tight game will ensue this weekend. Since they last met, however, Wymondham have moved above Woodbridge with a better run of results.

Woodbridge coach Adrian Foulger will wait on the fitness of two players who left the field injured at the weekend - Jon Crowther was forced off with a nasty cut above his eye, and Ollie Hurlock was stretchered off with what appeared to be an Achilles injury.

On the positive side, many players who were unavailable for last weekend's game should return to the squad this week.

The 2nd XV travel to Mersea Island in a double-header. Both clubs have agreed their Suffolk League One match will also count as the Eastern Counties 2nd XV Cup quarter-final.

Matt McArdle's men will be boosted after a fine 49-0 victory over Clacton last week, while Mersea went down at Colchester. The winners will face West Norfolk in the semi-final.

Woodbridge 3rds take on the Brightlingsea Pirates at Hatchley Barn, and will be looking to make vast improvements on last weekend's performance at Ipswich YM.

Things will be hotting up at the Warriors camp in the evening as the club host a gentleman's evening for all of the members, which will include a sit-down meal, and entertainment.

Ipswich YM 1st XV travel to Ely high on confidence after last weekend's impressive win over Haverhill.

The YM, unbeaten in 2007, will face a stern test against an Ely side sitting second in the table.

The Cambridgeshire side won 19-0 at Rushmere Road earlier in the season and the YM go into the game missing No. 8 Barry Alford and vice captain Ryan Quinton from the back row.

The Ipswich YM Hawks will be looking for victory at Colchester in their quest for the Suffolk Merit League 2 title.

The Hawks are only five points off top spot but on Saturday they will be without their inspirational captain Matt Quinton in a game they need to win to keep their title hopes alive.
