COLCHESTER United's FA Cup run came to an end at Stamford Bridge yesterday, but not before they had given champions Chelsea a real fright.

The U's, who had disposed of Sheffield United and Derby in earlier rounds, shocked the multi-million side when they deserverdly took the lead just before the half hour with an own goal from Ricardo Carvalho.

The hosts fought back within nine minutes though, as Paulo Ferreira reacted first to a set piece to turn the ball past Aidan Davidson for the equaliser.

Jose Mourinho brought on his big guns after the break, including Joe Cole, Frank Lampard and Hernan Crespo, and it was Cole with a double strike - the second in the 90th minute - who turned the tie the Premiership side's way as Colchester visibly tired.
