Melton St Audry's 3 Old Newton 1
A CONVINCING win to the home side that dominated most of the proceedings and deservedly went into the break with a two goal lead.
Despite having an early opportunity cleared off the visitors line it was five minutes before the break that Melton broke the deadlock.
Wright headed home a delightful Welham cross and while Old Newton keeper Lambert managed to tip Stoke's effort over the bar he had no chance with Melton's second.
Welham's hard work down the right flank gave Bixby a shot on goal which took a deflection and gave the home side a two goal advantage going into the break.
In the second-half Old Newton threw caution to the wind and a temporary siege on the Melton goal saw McKenna save one-handed and within minutes Bryant had hit the woodwork.
The visitors finally found the net as Richards capitalised on some poor defending but the last word was Melton's as Bixby's low drive found the net.
