LOCAL SOCCER
EVERY second year a feature of the local football calendar is the Achilles' Reunion Dinner, which is run with the twin objectives of bringing former members of the club together again in convivial surroundings and making the odd copper for the entirely voluntary senior club.
Over recent years the organising sub-committee, consisting of president Dave Routh, chairman Dave Morgan, senior vice president Cyril Garnham and vice president Paul Sparke have developed the concept for the intervening year of a vice presidents' dinner to which former members can bring their partners.
The next event has been arranged for Friday May 23 at the Novotel hotel, Ipswich.
Tickets are priced at £20 which includes a small donation to the club, and these will be available from members of the sub-committee early in the New Year.
A feature of the reunion dinners is the address by Dave Routh and although his prompt papers will be severely restricted from his usual 50 sheets or so, it is confidently expected that he will deliver his usual humorous address.
