MERSEA Island celebrated their 21st birthday earlier this month but Lady Luck didn't join the party.
More than 100 former players returned to their old club but watched them lose out narrowly to Chelmsford 12-10.
The Islanders are rooted to the foot of London Two North East but they haven't embarrassed themselves this season.
It was another case of what might have been last weekend against high-flyers Sudbury when a missed last minute penalty saw them go down to a 19-18 defeat.
Despite the recent disappointments, captain Jon Williams believes they will turn it around.
He said: “Apart from Thurrock this season there hasn't been a team that has really outplayed us.
“The Chelmsford result was a real disappointment although it was a great day for the club otherwise.
“We're a small club, perhaps punching above our weight at times, but when our luck changes I'm sure a few wins will be on their way this season.”
