Ipswich Town have linked up with NFL legend Tom Brady in a first for English football.

The Blues have announced a partnership with the quarterback’s health and wellness brand, TB12, which sees Town use the legendary signal caller’s fitness methods to help aid the recovery of their players over the course of a season.

Brady is widely regarded as the best player in the history of the NFL, winning seven Super Bowl rings and possessing a significant number of all-time records, with his approach to the game and dedication to TB12 helping break new ground as he continues to lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the remarkable age of 45.

And Ipswich are now benefitting from those techniques, which are focused around the five pillars of pliability, nutrition, hydration, movement, and mental fitness.

"We’re so grateful to be the first UK football club working in partnership with TB12," Andy Rolls, Town’s director of performance said.

"Their methods and skillset have benefited the recovery of our players and will play a key role throughout the season and beyond.

"We have been lucky to have body coach Chris Sousa (of TB12) working closely with our players and we look forward to continuing our work with Chris and the team at TB12."

Brady, who won six of his seven titles with the New England Patriots before winning his most recent in Tampa Bay at the age of 43, has regularly spoken of the benefits of the regime he has created with coach Alex Guerrero.

Brady avoids weight training, instead working on pliability with resistance bands and focusing on ‘prehab rather than rehab’ in a bid to maintain his impressive fitness levels which have seen him rarely miss games during a career spanning more than two decades.

Diet, nutrition and sleep are vital components to Brady’s approach, with the quarterback maintaining a strict regime of sleeping from 9pm to 6am wearing specially designed pyjamas to help improve oxygen flow to the body.

"At TB12, we have a unique opportunity to help reshape the way professional sports teams approach injury prevention and recovery,” Greg Perry, TB12 senior vice president of services said.

"Our body coaches have broad experience working with many of the world’s best athletes across a variety of sports and levels, and what we’ve done for these athletes is the same thing we do for all of our clients – we help them live pain-free and perform their best with an emphasis on pliability.

"We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with the sports medicine team at Ipswich Town, giving them access to TB12 body coaches so they can keep their athletes on the field and give their club an edge over the competition.”

Boston-based Body coach Sousa has been working with the Blues for several months and is in frequent communication with the medical team at Playford Road, as well as conducting bi-monthly visits to assist the progress and development of the department.
