Could the next Lewis Hamilton be from Felixstowe?

Alex Stephenson, dad of budding chamption, Euan Stephenson, certainly hopes so.

Euan is a Year 9 student at St Albans Catholic School in Ipswich.

He is competing in The Karting Championship, in the Junior Rotax Class for children ages 13 – 16.

The Karting Championship is a six-round competition.

Euan has so far raced at Karting Northeast, Rowrah Cumbria and Llandow Wales. He has Fulbeck and Clay Pigeon in July and Whilton Mil in September.

Alex said: "He’s a local lad and we were flying the flag for Suffolk. We really wanted this season to be a success. Euan has produced some fantastic results including top 20 finishes.

Alex said: "He has raced all over Britain this year. It has been a fantastic experience."

Thirteen-year-old Euan said: “A lot of things didn’t go my way this season. But I know I have the pace to finish strongly and put in some fast laps heat after heat.

"I’m now going to work on the lessons learned from my races and aim for an even better performance next race weekend.”

The Karting Championship is just a step away from the British Championship.

"We normally go at least once a month for practice at Ellough Raceway or Red Lodge Karting but we’ve spent most of the year trekking around the UK going to different competitions," says Alex.

"We’ve been as far down as Devon and up to Sunderland. It’s a massive commitment for the family.

"It’s incredibly expensive as well. But when they’re good, what do you do? We have had some fantastic support from local companies, Danny at Martello Transports, Cory Brothers, KDR European, Ipswich Trade Centre and our new sponsor Tru7."

Alex said Euan's love for karting started early. "We attended Ipswich indoor karting from eight years old, then moved onto Ellough raceway at Beccles, and from there we stepped up to national karting.

"His dream is to be a racing driver."

You can follow all of Euan’s success through his social media accounts or his website.
