Ipswich Town CEO Mark Ashton was in attendance to watch Ipswich Town Women get their home league campaign off to a flying start against Plymouth Argyle at the AGL Arena in Felixstowe on Sunday.

Within 5 minutes, Town found themselves 1-0 up following great play from Kyr Robertson to lose her marker, finding Maria Boswell on the right, who's low ball found new signing, Tottenham loanee Lenna Gunning-Williams, who hit the ball into the bottom right.

Town went 2-0 up 10 minutes later, as an attempted clearance rebounded off Sophie Peskett into the back of the net.

Plymouth pulled one back in the 26th minute after a poor ball out from the back led to Rebecca Dandridge pouncing on it, shooing from 18 yards with Soper left in no-mans land.

Town regained the two-goal lead just five minutes later as Peskett, who was causing trouble all half for the Plymouth defence, fired into the roof of the net.

Natasha Thomas had the ball in the back of the net again after some great play from Gunning-Williams and Horwood, but the flag was raised for offside.

Peskett was once again a handful for Plymouth, who danced through the defence before playing it across goal to an unmarked Gunning-Williams who got her second of the game and Town's fourth.

Thomas made it 5-1 to Town just before half time as the ball broke free following a scramble in the box, and Thomas fired the ball into the roof of the net.

10 minutes after the restart, Thomas got her second of the game and Town's sixth, as the ball broke to her in the six-yard box and she hit the ball past the Plymouth goalkeeper.

Plymouth had a couple of chances, but Soper in the Ipswich net was equal too them.

Substitute Evie Williams made it seven for the Tractor Girls with a cross from the left floating over everyone and into the back of the net. A fantastic goal from the 16-year-old.
