Ipswich Town Women ran out 1-0 winners over MK Dons at Stadium MK this afternoon.

Town manager Joe Sheehan made two changes in the game, with Holly Turner and Maisy Barker starting ahead of Natasha Thomas, who eventually scored the winner, and Leah Mitchell.

On the performance, Sheehan said: "I am relieved.

"Wednesday night was disappointing and we have developed a good reputation.

"With the reputation comes an expectation and that grows every year.

"When we lose, it looks worse than it is.

"Today, it took a bit of bravery, we needed to roll our sleeves up and try and get the right flow.

"It took its time to get that flow today but when we found it, we applied good pressure and thankfully we got the goal from it.

"It was a lot of games in the week, would have liked more points, but it's been hot and a lot of games.

"Now we have a week to prepare for the next game, some players can come back which will help us."

Town midfielder Kyra Robertson was a driver in the centre of the pitch.

She said: "I think it was a good performance.

"We had to be patient today, they set up to have the ball at the back and a low block, so they were hard to break down.

"We had to be patient for an opening but when our chance did come, we took it and punished them.

"I found it quite difficult at the start of the game to have an effect but I wanted to get hold of the ball and turn it over well and exploit the space.

"That's what I like to do and I think I can be happy with that performance."

The game was played at Stadium MK, something Roberson said benefitted the team.

"It suits us, we like to play football, we're a ball playing team so it definitely suits us.

"We controlled the game."

Robertson recently made her 50th appearance for Ipswich Town.

On that milestone, she said: "I want to keep adding to it.

"Stay consistent, fit and healthy and keep helping to progress the football club.

"It's come a long way in a couple of years and I want that to continue."
