Cameron Burgess started for Australia in their 2-0 win against Lebanon in World Cup qualifying.

The Socceroos took took the lead in the fifth minute as Keanu Baccus' cross looped straight over goalkeeper Mostafa Matar and into the back of the net. Burgess then looked to threaten from a corner around the half-hour mark, but a free-kick was awarded against him for a foul.

The centre-back did have a part to play, however, flicking the ball on for Kye Rowles to score his first goal in green and gold, giving them a two-goal advantage in the 54th minute.

Australia kept pushing for a third while Lebanon tried to hit on the counter, firing just wide of the post deep into stoppage time. The game eventually fizzled out, with the hosts sealing a 2-0 win in Sydney.

The result sees Graham Arnold's men move up to nine points in their Group I, with another game against Lebanon to come in Canberra on Tuesday, March 26th.

Burgess earned his seventh senior cap in the victory, partnering Leicester City's Harry Souttar in defence.
