Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna hasn't ruled out Brandon Williams resuming his season-long loan spell from Manchester United after the full-back appeared in court last week.

Williams, 23, made 17 appearances for the Blues in the first half of the season, impressing over the autumn period, but increasingly saw his game time decrease from October onwards, repeated illnesses and 'knocks' having been given as reasons for his absences along the way.

He returned to Manchester United for 'medical assessment' in January, with McKenna stating on February 4 that he expected the defender to return to Suffolk in '10 to 14 days'. Three weeks later, the Blues boss explained Williams had 'a set-back with his recovery'.

Williams appeared at Crewe Magistrates' Court last Friday where he denied dangerous driving and using a car without third party insurance - charges that dated back to August 20 last year.

On whether Williams might resume his season-long loan spell at some stage, McKenna said: "The situation hasn't really changed in that it's out of our hands.

"Brandon's a Man United player, he's been back at Man United for the last few months and there has to be a certain level of readiness for him to come back here and be ready to contribute.

"If he doesn't reach that readiness before the end of the season, then he won't return. If he was able to reach that readiness, then it would be another option for us towards the end of the season.

"He's a player who doesn’t belong to our club, as such, so it’s a matter for Man United at the moment."
