Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy has won the PFA Championship Fans' Player of the Year award.

The 32-year-old helped the Blues secure back-to-back promotions to reach the Premier League, chipping in with three goals and six assists in 42 games.

His role off the pitch hasn't gone unnoticed, however, acting as the main leader in the dressing room to keep the squad calm and composed throughout the promotion run-in.

Nominated on an eight-man shortlist, Morsy beat Town team-mates Leif Davis and Omari Hutchinson, as well as Sammie Szmodics (Blackburn Rovers), Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Leicester City), Adam Armstrong (Southampton), Crysencio Summerville and Ethan Ampadu (both Leeds United).

He becomes the first Ipswich player to win an end-of-season PFA Fans' divisional award since its inception in 2001.

As confirmed by the PFA, Championship players are currently voting for their Player of the Season, which should be announced in due course.
