Championship side Sheffield United are reportedly interested in signing Ipswich Town winger Jack Clarke this summer.
The Blades had been linked with a swoop for the 25-year-old during the January transfer window, but nothing ever materialised. Now, with the Blues back in the Premier League, the Sheffield Star claim that Chris Wilder's side could revisit a possible bid.
The report adds that Sheffield United are looking to strengthen their left flank ahead of the 2026/27 season, with Gustavo Hamer taking up a more central role if he stays at the club. Aston Villa's Lewis Dobbin - who has just completed a loan spell at Preston North End - is another name in the frame.
Clarke finished the campaign as Town's top scorer, bagging 16 goals in 46 games, split evenly with 23 starts and 23 substitute apearances.
Alex's verdict
Unless Clarke wants to leave Ipswich, either in search of regular starts or to move closer to his home up north, I can't see him leaving this summer. It would likely take a Championship record fee to get it done.
Ipswich's left side is their strongest area. Heading into the transfer window, there's a strong chance that every other area of the squad will need strengthening.
This would be the one position that could go untouched, with Jaden Philogene and Clarke competing for minutes.
The 25-year-old is a better player than he was last time in the Premier League. He's had two seasons to get used to Kieran McKenna's ways, which should give him the platform to kick on next season.
I'm not going to doubt Sheffield United's interest, but I don't think Clarke will be on the move any time soon.
