FORMER Ipswich speedway rider Steve Johnston has signed for Belle Vue where he will be joined by Jason Crump, Jason Lyons, Carl Stonehewer and at reserve Craig Watson.

The Aces also agreed terms with Leigh Adams, but the Australian is set to ride for Poole.

Greg Hancock, Kris Cegielski and Rune Holta have all confirmed that they won't be riding in England in 2003.

The Witches have agreed terms with five riders, but little is expected to happen until the New Year with the Ipswich management fighting their case strongly behind the scenes to have special dispensation over the 'rolling averages' rule.

Promoter John Louis is furious that clubs like current champions Wolverhampton are effectively able to put together a side with a combined points limit three points higher than the Witches.

Scott Nicholls, Jarek Hampel, Paul Hurry, Tom P Madsen and Danny Bird will fill five of the Ipswich places in their Sky Sports Elite League side, with James Brundle and Kim Jansson included in the British League Cup seven.
