FORMER Ipswich Town star Darren Bent is on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur in a £16million deal, according to reports this morning.
The England striker is believed to be in talks with the North London giants over a move from relegated Charlton Athletic.
It is understood Tottenham have agreed to pay £13m up front for Bent, rising to a possible £16m.
Ipswich will be taking a keen interest in negotiations, as the club is due 20% of any profit Charlton make from selling on Bent. The striker joined Charlton from Ipswich in a £2.5m deal two years ago.
Last week, the 23-year-old turned down a £17m move to West Ham after failing to agree personal terms.
