The 35-year-old Dutchman drove in a stunning goal to put Town 2-0 up against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium yesterday afternoon.
The home side hit back against a depleted Blues team to earn a point from a 2-2 draw, but it was Ipswich who earned all the kudos.
“It was a great start to the New Year and with the strength of young talent at this club we are well placed to move forward,” said Wilnis, who doesn't score often but when he does he makes it count.
He netted memorable goals at home to Manchester United and away to Coventry in the Premiership.
His last Town goal was another crashing drive - and given extra spice because it was against Norwich City and sealed a Blues victory at Carrow Road.
