WORLD Indoor Ice promoters Ian Thomas and Graham Drury have booked Poland Under-21 champion Jarek Hampel and all-action Adam Skornicki for their British indoor ice debuts.

They will both race in the Telford meeting this Sunday and be included in the Rest of the World squad to face England in the afternoon.

They will also partner each other in the Speedway Star International Best Pairs Knock-out and then make their British Open Championship debuts in the evening meeting (7.30pm).

This could well be their only track appearances in British speedway in 2002 because Hampel is unavailable for Ipswich Witches, due to his overseas commitments, and Wolverhampton Wolves have released Skornicki, who is available to go on loan.

Hampel, second only to Scott Nicholls in the popularity stakes at Ipswich last season, will be sadly missed from the Elite League this year.

Disappointed at missing out on a Grand Prix nomination, the man who won a wild card entry to the 2001 Polish Grand Prix, will divide his loyalties between the Polish and Swedish leagues in 2002. He could be back at Foxhall Heath in 2003.

Hampel and Skornicki are not the first Polish track stars to race on the ice at Telford. Tomasz Gollob rode at the Shropshire rink in 1996 and 1999, Jacek Gollob in 1996 and Marek Kepa in 1995.

Fans wishing to travel to Telford from Ipswich should contact Mark Styles on (01473) 718477 to book a place on the Supporters' club coach.
