EAST Bergholt went close to opening the scoring in the early stages, Vernau heading wide from Gedny's cross. After ten minutes Gedny broke through to put the home side into the lead.

Haughley responded well with Lummis bringing a fine save from Andrews. From his long clearance Wilcox headed on for Gedny to run through and chip Clarke to increase Bergholt's lead.

Haughley were having most of the possession with Bergholt relying on the break and the second half continued in this vein. Early on Gedny had three more chances to increase the lead in as many minutes but all were wasted.

Vernau then blasted over when well placed. Haughley continued to battle and pulled one back with Bennett sliding home from a narrow angle.

Clarke then brought down Gedny only for J Powell to blast a penalty over the bar. The visitors started to get on top with Andrews saving from Noller, Grover heading just wide and Ormes hitting the bar with a powerful header.

Howell then had to clear from under the bar following A Powell's header. Haughley equalised in the 80th minute when Lummis centred for A Powell to coolly slot home from 15 yards.

Both sides had chances to win the game although Haughley finished stronger and Andrews did well to save in a goalmouth scramble in the last minute.
