EVERYONE noticed the drop in temperature this week? I should think so too.

With a temperature of minus nine recorded at Norwich on Tuesday it's time to start scurrying for your winter warmers!

The wind has been set in the east for the past week which has seen the sea become coloured with a fair chop on the water.

In fact on some days it's been downright rough!

Boat anglers take the brunt of this wind as they can't put to sea – even the rivers are uncomfortable.

Hardly Christmas cheer!

At this time of year, even right through to late spring, when the wind gets settled in the east it really takes something to shift it.

It is with some cheer that the fishing from the beach has not dropped off too much with several good catches being taken this week.

Before we get underway with the coastline round up I must take this opportunity to wish fellow angler Ian Caley from Felixstowe the best of luck and a speedy recovery.

Ian underwent an operation this week and I'm sure all sea anglers will wish him well.

On a water-related point I must stress the importance of taking all the safety precaution when enjoying the sea.

Whether on, or close by, the sea can be a very dangerous place. One of the main points is "always wear a lifejacket."

There are many rules which you should follow for your basic safety, however it seems the wearing of buoyancy aids appears not to be fashionable.

Let's not have any accidents and please wear your life jacket.
