FOUR Medite Ipswich cricketers have been named in the squad of 14 in this year's Indoor Cricket World Cup in New Zealand.

Michael Edmond, Ipswich's player/coach, is recalled to the squad as vice-captain. He has previously coached and captained the national side.

Ipswich's vice captain, Richard Saggers, will be competing in his third World Cup, and to complete the playing squad is Chris Norton, who retains his place following a recent tour to Sri Lanka.

Medite Ipswich player/manager Brian Barnard joins the coaching staff, completes the Suffolk quartet.

The squad flies out on September 20, and will face reigning World Cup champions, Australia, as well as hosts, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka and India in a round robin. The top four then play a straight knockout.

At present, the men are looking into ways of fundraising, as it will cost each player approximately, £2500. If anyone has any ideas or would be interested in sponsoring them, please contact Brian Barnard on 07736 460913.
