THE ladies of Ipswich & District IBC continue to make progress in their national inter-club events.

Already through to the third round of the Yetton Trophy, they won their third round match against Stonyhill (Brentwood) ICB by 74 shots to 57 to move into the fourth round of the Vivienne Trophy.

This event was introduced four years ago giving clubs, should they wish, the opportunity to enter a reserve team in a national event, the Yetton now being restricted to one team only from any club.

At Ipswich both rinks led from the start to be 15 shots up after 15 ends, with the visitors reducing their deficit by four shots at the finish. At Stonyhill, Ipswich got back to be all square at 10 ends after a slow start, and more than held their own over the remaining ends, with Barbara Rushbrook's 19-9 success being the highlight.

Scores:

At Ipswich (40-29): I Butler 18, M Giles 12, E Corcoran 22, B Lacey 17.

At Stonyhill (34-28): B Rushbrook 19, J Digman 9, M Lane 15, C McCombe 19.

Scores at five ends 20-17, 10 ends 37-28, 15 ends 59-40, 18 ends 67-48.

Ipswich will now meet the winners of Mid Suffolk and Colchester in the fourth round on Thursday, January 17, 2002.
