FORMER Blues defender Jamie Clapham is hoping his current training spell with Ipswich Town will earn him a contract.

Currently staying in Bury St Edmunds with his in-laws, Clapham said: “I have been with Ipswich for a week and really enjoying it.

”Hopefully I can come to the notice of a club and get fixed up for the season.”

The 32-year-old left-sided player made 252 appearances for Town scoring 16 goals, before moving for £1.3million to Birmingham. He has also been with Wolves and Leicester and had a trial at Southend last month.

Watching the Blues friendly with West Ham at Portman Road on Monday was another ex-Town player.

Louie Donowa made 33 appearances and scored two goals in the 1989/90 campaign. He was born in Ipswich but started his career at Norwich City and in a varied career also turned out for Deportivo La Coruna, Bristol City, Birmingham, Peterborough and Walsall.

Now 43, he is doing disc jockey work in the midlands and is interested in getting back into the game.
