BLUES boss Roy Keane says that there is a lot more to come from his squad.

Just one defeat in 15 games and the chance to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup with a win at League One Southampton on Saturday, Keane is not getting carried away.

“We are getting it right now,” he said. “The squad is taking shape and we need to be above the bottom places for the rest of the season.

“But there is a lot more to come from the squad.

“We are focussing on gaining results, and the Championship table will take care of itself.”

Keane will be linked with a number of possible signings during the transfer window, but he has said that his mindset is that there will be no signings.

If the right player comes along - and there is reason to believe the Blues have recently watched Nottingham Forest striker Dele Adebola and Celtic defender Lee Naylor are possibilities - then Keane will pounce.

He went on: “We are now more solid at the back and are giving ourselves a chance.

“At the start of the season we were giving unbelievably bad goals away.”

Town have scored three goals in each of their last three home matches, but Keane is still searching for a higher goal output.

“We are creating chances now but we need to take more of them.

“Our form at Portman Road has been decent of late.

“We disappointed our fans earlier and hopefully we have been pleasing them for the last few months.

“Our fans are looking to win - of course they are.

“In the modern game winning is now more important than ever.

“I'm comfortable with that and hopefully they went home with a smile on their face after our last-gasp 3-2 win over Coventry last weekend.”
