IPSWICH Town's hopes of taking Mexican international Giovani Dos Santos back on loan from Tottenham have been scuppered after Spurs manager Harry Redknapp insisted that the youngster has a part to play at his parent club.

“Giovani played in the Carling Cup and did very well,” said Redknapp. “He looked lively, so hopefully he can continue in that form.

“If he dedicates himself to being a top player, then he will have a part to play here.

“He's got all the ability, but it's up to him now."

Giovani had a successful loan spell at Portman Road at the end of last season, establishing himself as a fan's favourite.
