Woodbridge Town 0 Fakenham Town 6

FOR the fourth time this season Woodbridge crashed to a heavy home defeat with this game effectively over midway through the first half. By the 25th minute a series of individual errors had helped Fakenham to establish a four goal lead and although Woodbridge limited further damage until the last 10 minutes they were clearly second best throughout the game.

In fact the visiting keeper was not forced to make one save in the entire game. The visitors took the lead in the ninth minute when Gary Gilmore tried a speculative effort from 25 yards which Glyn Dixon parried but could then only watch as the ball ballooned over him and into the net.

Paul Reeve sent Dixon the wrong way from the penalty spot in the 19th minute and two minutes later the best goal of the game came at the end of a fine passing move with Julian Delicata converting at the far post after more good work by Man of the Match Gilmore.

Reeve headed home unmarked at the far post after a corner had been flicked on at the near post to complete a devastating spell of three goals in six minutes and from then on there was no way back for Woodbridge.

The visitors squandered two clear openings before the break and from the home sides point of view the only goalmouth action of note consisted of a lob from Gavin Crane which drifted just past the post and an effort from Ricky Deasey which was ruled out for offside. Instead it was the visitors who rounded off a impressive performance with two more goals in the final ten minutes.

Firstly Gilmore drove in a low shot from the edge of the penalty area and then, after Dixon had twice made good saves, Kevin White sliced through a static home defence to bring up the half dozen, leaving Woodbridge the task of bouncing back tomorrow evening when Maldon visit Notcutts Park.
