JEWSON League First Divison side Leiston will have new opponents in next month's First Division KO Cup final, writes Mike Bacon.
Their original ones, Cambridge City Reserves, played an ineligible player, Louie Evans, in the second leg semi-final match against Histon Reserves on Wednesday, March 13, when he had already played four times in the competition for King's Lynn Reserves.
The club have admitted the offence and as a consequence have been removed from the competition. Histon Reserves have been reinstated and will be the side which meets Leiston in the final to be played at Needham Market Football Club on Monday, May 6 – kick-off 3pm.
The north Suffolk side also have an important match at Victory Road, Leiston tomorrow – when Needham Market are the visitors in a Jewson First Division match – with both clubs vying for a promotion position.
