Needham 1 Harwich 3
NEEDHAM started brightly and Dean Folkard and Richard Denison both struck the woodwork with well-executed efforts inside the first quarter of an hour.
The remainder of the first period was evenly contested.
After the break Needham's defence was guilty of a lapse in concentration to allow Paul Smith to nip in between players in the six-yard box to finish and give Harwich the lead. Needham then tried hard to get back into the game and Lee Briggs went close before Marc Wake levelled when he side-footed home Robbie Hill's pass.
Soon afterwards Matt Jones picked up a back-pass from Dan Ditcham and Paul Musgrove powerfully shot home from Craig Chaplin's set-up pass to restore the Shrimpers' lead. Harwich added a third when substitute Gareth Neale shot into the corner of the goal with Matt Jones well beaten.
