Pablo Counago's first ever away goal for Ipswich Town could not coincide with a victory for Joe Royle's Blues against Burnley at Turf Moor today.

The visitors from Suffolk had to be content with a draw, but at least they extended their unbeaten run in league and cup to eight matches.

Counago got his 14th goal of the season for the Blues when he smashed home from close range in the 23rd minute following a corner by Darren Ambrose.

Not long after, former Celta Vigo man Counago had to go off due to a head cut. He did not return and Darren Bent took his place.

In the second half Ipswich brought on Matt Richards for his league debut and took off Ambrose as they switched from a 4-4-2 to a 3-5-2 formation.

Soon after this Burnley levelled when Town keeper Andy Marshall brought down Alan Moore and Robbie Blake smacked home a 66th minute penalty.

After this Ipswich really began to string their game together and cut Burnley to pieces at times with their superior passing.

The visitors created opening after opening, but they could not make it count. Substitute Darren Bent wasted several opportunities while Marcus Bent and Tommy Miller also failed to take chances.

The Burnley goal bore a charmed life at times, but Stan Ternents' team held on to get another draw against town. Back in October they came to Portman Road to draw 2-2.
